Finally found my PDA which contained about 10 past reviews that I'd done but not been able to post.
Anyway, this was one of them. Had this in a pint at the Snowgoose before a GNBC (Great Northern Brewers' Clulb) meeting.
Appearance: dark but with a reddish tint, average, creamy head
Smell: very nice...good espresso scent, roasty, a hint of sharpness
Taste: with a fresh palate I notice the espresso flavor right off, but subsequent sips the flavor starts to vanish. The malt flavors are roasty, toasty, malty yumminess. Like in the smell, the taste has a hint of hop bite, the espresso lends a smack of bitterness too, but overall, nicely balanced.
Mouthfeel: pretty good for a change. Recently (Summer of 08) I've found most of the beer coming out of Sleeping Lady to be weak and thin. Very disappointing. Not sure what the problem has been, fermentation temp? Or are they just watering it down? Who knows. But this one was sampled in October of 07, it had a very appropriate mouthfeel for it's style.
Overall, very drinkable, in fact I had two before the meeting. At that moment I remember that there might be hope, yet, for Sleeping Lady Brewing....new brewer...usually things get exciting....

We love reviews (150 characters or more)! Check out: How to Review a Beer. You don't need to get fancy. Drop some thoughts on the beer's attributes (look, smell, taste, feel) plus your overall impression. Something that backs up your rating and helps others. Thanks!
