A Pro-Am collaboration with four young and ambitious homebrewers, Kilty by Association is the unruly bigger brother of our Kilty MacSporran Scottish ale. This Wee Heavy pours a light copper with caramel aromas jumping out of the glass. Kilty by Association balances a rich maltiness, full body, and respectable strength with a light drying finish. Be careful with this trouble maker!

Poured from a growler into a MacAndrew's thistle glass. Pours a medium, slightly red orange with a thin white fizzy head that dissipates to patches, leaving no lacing. Aroma of caramel malt, dark fresh fruit, hint of orange and light peat. Flavor is semi-dry caramel malt with a slight toastiness, fig and date, mild nuttiness leaning towards the slight bitterness of filbert, light peat. Finishes a bit bitter with light residual peat smokiness. Medium bodied with light creaminess. A quite nicely done and faithful domestic take on a Scotch ale. Nice malty body that does not lean towards over-sweetness as many of this style do. Good dried fruit flavors and a touch of peat. This was a nice introduction to this small brewery. Glad I tried it.
