Batch #1. 22oz bomber, naturally conditioned in the bottle.
Pours dark, almost black. Looks like a medium bodies ale on the pour, no head whatsoever.
Strong Belgian smell, fruity and pretty nice.
Taste is all belgian. Medium to thin body and almost no bitterness has me questioning the 'stout' piece, but its a really tasty ale. Drinks smooth and indeed feels velvety on the tongue. Lots of dark fruity flavors and some spice in there. The finish leaves a little something on the tongue that I'm not in love with, but it's not a showstopper.
Overall this is a really unique offering from Strangeland, and its right on par with some of their porters that I've really enjoyed. However, its not a stout to me, so expect more Belgian if you decide to give it a go.
