quite possibly the best beer i had at prison city, at least it was my personal favorite. a really well crafted tripel, with a totally different yeast profile than their quad. this one is more classically belgian, spicy and gummy, candy and fruit, its great. the base is wheat based it seems, with some belgian pils and maybe some oats too, its got a lot of body but is made to feel light by the effervescence of the carbonation and the relative lack of residual sugar for the style. fruit notes i get include white grape and canned pear, as well as coriander seed and mild clove on the spice front. its creamy in feel too, but never heavy. tripel is a style i often steer away from on first time brewery visits because when they are done wrong they are just so bad, but this was probably the biggest surprise in an evening full of them at prison city. a well made tripel, and a distinctive one in terms of mouthfeel. the alcohol is real well hidden too, so it drinks quicker than normal. careful crushing these...

On tap at the brewery, Auburn NY. Pours deep golden with white head. Aroma is of Belgian yeast, cotton candy and herbal hops. Body is full and smooth. Taste is of yeast, bready malt, cotton candy and nail polish. Finish is long, alcoholic. Could be much better brew.

This one pours a golden straw yellow, with a small head, and no lacing.
Smells really strongly of banana bubblegum, with some clove and honey.
This has one of the strongest bubblegum yeast flavors that I've ever encountered in a beer like this. There's definitely some slightly chalky banana, with honey malt sweetness, and clovey yeastiness.
This has a somewhat thin body, with a higher level of carbonation.
Definitely interesting, but a little too bubblegummy, honestly. The BA version is definitely better.
