this was actually one of my least favorite beers here at prison city. it looks great with its dark ruby red to brown body and radiant clarity, except its missing its big belgian head. smells good though, dried cherry and cranberry fruitiness in with some candy sugar, and a range of specialty grains. the yeast is cool too in the nose, not as sharp and wine-like as they can be, more subtle, floral, cool in a strong beer. alcohol coming through a bit, but its appropriate. the flavor matches the nose real well, this beer has a ton of dried fruity flavors to it, almost like a trail mix of sorts. its very light though, not a ton of body for the style, and not getting into that darker grain space a lot of these do, not that it seems diluted, but maybe a little safe as they go. i love the yeast flavor though, herbaceous and alive without the bubblegum thing going on at all. still distinctly belgian. warming alcohol at the end is welcomed. the one real negative for me here is the lack of carbonation. i need it in belgians, especially the strong ones, and without it, it seems like a juice or something, like a wine, less like a good quad. flavors are solid though. overall this is tasty beer, mild for the style, but well done.

On tap at the brewery, Auburn NY. Pours dark brown with beige head. Aroma is of caramel malt, and dark fruit. Body is full and crisp. Cherries, yeast, toasted malt and some hops fill the mouth. Finish is long, fruity. OK brew.

On tap at Prison City Pub and Brewery in Auburn, NY.

This one pours a light amber-ish brown, slightly murky, with no head or lacing.

Smells like dark fruit, raisin, bubblegum, and cloves.

The flavor is a bit too yeasty and not quite malty enough to be great, but what we got here is still pretty damn solid. There's a good amount of dark fruit, and some breadiness, with some candied sugar, and bubblegum and cloves. The yeast is definitely active in this one.

This is medium bodied, lighter bodied than I would've expected for a quad, for sure. It's got a moderate level of carbonation.

A pretty decent quad, but not quite in the upper echelon.
