32 oz crowler, into pint glass
pours a clear, amber color, with thick off-white colored head. good head retention and lacing. hop aroma is appropriate to the name - on the side of dank, piney, earthy hops. similar flavor, quite bitter, just a touch of caramel malt. medium bodied, a bit sticky of a mouthfeel.

This beer pours a vibrant golden orange with lots of chill haze. The head is one finger, foamy and bright white with below average retention. There are lots of sticky rings of lacing left all over the glass.
Smell is straight up dank and hoppy as hell. There is a ton of resinous pine, green earthiness and an underlying layer of citrus. There is also a bit of bready malt.
Taste is the same, but the hops are turned up even more rendering the bready malts from the smell basically non existent. Super dank and sooo flavorful with a very bitter finish. Absolutely fantastic!
Feel is medium bodied, oily and resinous with moderate carbonation. The bitterness makes for a prickly finish.
Overall this beer is phenomenal. I know the juicy fruity NE beers are in vogue, and clearly Prison City excels at those too, but I love the bitter bite of a traditional west coast style IPA and this beer has that in spades. Absolutely mind blowing that this is the 2nd DIPA Prison City has ever brewed and it is undoubtedly world class. Every bit as good as the best from Beachwood, Noble or *runs for cover* Russian River.
