Featuring Citra and Azaaca hops. Juicy fruit nose with notes of watermelon candy, stone fruit and a faint hint of bubble gum. Yippee Ki-yay!!

Pours hazy, translucent pale yellow (SRM 2-3). A big, three inches of fluffy white head slowly turns rocky as it forms a thick pillow and deposits a patchwork of lace on a Strangebird IIPA glass.

The aroma is a strong blend of fresh pineapple and grapefruit with cattiness following and building with warmth. Mango and orange show up shortly after the first few whiffs.

This one is very bitter and overwhelms the sweetness, which pokes out occasionally. Hop resin and grapefruit dominate. The finish is long, strong, and a bit astringent.

It has a full body and the texture of plush cashmere. Prickly carbonation helps the alcohol appear higher, especially as it warms. Astringency tends to numb the gums.

This is a juicy and bitter beer, probably more than one can handle after work. The branding is a fun little play. I bought it in a four-pack for a Christmas party with the neighbors. We debated the merits of the movie and two thirds agrees that "Die Hard" is a movie that happens at Christmas time.

From an undated 16oz can but fresh as it was purchased at Prison City a few weeks ago. Nice hazy NEIPA. And I love the reference to the “Christmas” movie “Die Hard.”

On tap at Flaherty’s Three Flags Inn in Macedon, NY.

This one pours a fairly hazy golden yellow color, with a small head, and lots of lacing.

This smells like candied citrus, grapefruit, piney hops, and lemon.

This is pretty much your bog standard tasty NE-style IPA – lots of citrus, no malt, a touch of bitterness – it’s great on draft, and will scratch the itch should the itch come your way. There are no off flavors that I can discern.

This is light bodied, crisp, clean, and clearly well brewed, with a really nice drinkability.

Prison City clearly still makes some of the better IPAs in the area, and that’s always nice to be reminded of.

Getting a tart raspberry, and a chalky watermelon on the nose. Bitter and almost bittersweet.

This beer pours a completely opaque, super cloudy yellow orange color with a 2 finger, frothy white head that sticks around forever and leaves tons of spotted and chunky lacing all over the glass.

Smell is very bright and fruity. Pineapple is the star of the show with grapefruit, mango, citrus pith and candied orange making up a spectacular supporting cast.

Taste is great too, but quite different from the smell. All the fruity flavors are there, but there is a distinct green herbal earthiness that gives the beer a nice punch and provides a bit of bitterness on the finish.

Feel is light side of medium, soft and smooth. There is a little prickle on the finish from the carbonation/bitterness that tickles the tongue.

Overall this is an excellent beer. I am not normally a fan of El Dorado and Azacca hops, but the flavor profile of this beer is exquisite.
