Another new, experimental beer in our "FWD" series. Friends at Yakima Chief Hops continue to develop new hop products and we're happy as all get out to play around with them. This American Pale Ale is hopped exclusively with their "805" Citra hop oil delivering notes of grapefruit, lime, and orange. You may pick up tropical fruit undertones, including mango, passionfruit, and lychee.

Pours a hazy gold. Thin foam. Dank hop aroma. Big bitter hop body. Hop oil and resin. Bitter finish. Very consistent. A solid hop forward pale ale.

On tap at The Village Tavern in Geneseo, NY.
This one pours a slightly hazy golden yellow color, with a small head, and lots of lacing.
This smells like classic grapefruit and orange hop notes, with mango and marijuana.
This is billed as something with a new experimental type of hop oil, but it just ends up being a fairly classic tasting New England style pale ale, to me. There’s lots of citrus – sweet grapefruit, orange, mango, etc, with some bubble gum sweetness, and a touch of marijuana and pine bitterness. It’s done well, and is pretty unfussy tasting to me.
This is lighter bodied, crisp, clean, and quite drinkable.
I’m happy to see Prison City still releasing some tasty beers even with brewer turnover.
