Ascension 1677 is our bourbon barrel-aged Imperial Stout. The year 1677 is the first known use of the word stout in reference to beer, and Imperial Stout is the culmination of this style's ascension to modern day decadence. Our version has a luscious chocolaty decadence that's unlike anything we've created to date. It's impenetrably black with deep flavors of roasty espresso, flourless chocolate cake, toffee, oaky vanilla, and a warming bourbon booziness.

On tap at their taproom in Truckee. Dark black. Nice aroma of bourbon barrel, roasted malts. Flavor was quite nice. Could use a touch more thickness in the body but overall this was really tasty.
