enjoyed on nitro at their truckee spot, very basic but very good, slightly hoppier than i think is common in these, but the nitro does what it does and sort of mutes and soothes any intensity that might come from the hops, so this presents as balanced and flavorful and as a beer not trying to do too much, very well crafted. sturdy amber red color from the tap with nice clarity and a maybe half inch of creamy beige nitro fluff, but maybe not quite masterfully nitrogenated. the aroma is chill as it often is in nitro beers, light pine and zesty pithy citrus, very fresh which is cool, and a nice nutty not too sweet grain base that hints at raisin, toffee, and bread crusts, biscuity and warming, cohesive and good. the flavor is similar, the hops kind of wait until later to show up in here, almost at the finish, spruce and juniper and only enough bitterness to balance, somewhat wintery i suppose. before that its all malt, caramel without being sugary, baked and hearty, perfect medium body softened to pillowy by the nitro, relatively quick to finish for this being on the more flavorful end of the style spectrum, excellent overall quality, good water chemistry and minerality coming through in the brew, and made fresh with the hops turned up a little bit. nicely done, drinkable to a pretty endless degree, especially at this restrained abv.
