American IPA brewed and sold at Party Town in ``Florence Y'all'', KY. Poured from a growler into a Braxton glass. Like all Mash Cult beers, this one is basically a (really, really good) homebrew done on large scale, so it is very rustic-looking, although not as cloudy as some of their beers. The smell is amazing. Tons of citrus notes: fresh oranges, lemon rind, grapefruit juice, and peaches.
Medium body with a firm, velvety feel and a very pleasant flavor. A little bit of toast and marmalade up front, then very nicely-balanced citrus-like hoppiness washes over your palate. Follows the nose well, but never becomes overly bitter. Oranges hit you first, then lemon and grapefruit. The finish is dry and lingering, leaving you salivating for more. In writing this paragraph I took 3 swigs and the glass is already half-empty.
Overall, a really good IPA that has the kind of flavors I enjoy in terrific balance. It toes the line between citrus bitterness and malt sweetness extremely well and the bitterness is very flavorful and appetizing and not ascetic or unpleasant. I would like a bit more carbonation, but it's a growler and it's possible I bumped it a little in the car on the way home. Very well done!
