Poured from a growler into a Goose Island tulip. Pours out light orange with about a finger of wispy white head. Very murky and rustic looking, like a mimosa. Nice aroma of fresh grapefruit, oranges, pineapple, lemon, and rose hips.
Light body with an aggressive hoppy flavor. Lots of fruitiness in this one, primarily oranges. A nice grainy sweetness up front is quickly overwhelmed by orange pulp and lemon zest. The hop character is quite strong, but the flavors are pleasant so I don't mind. The quinine-like bitterness that goes well with the citrus flavors. Stony dry finish that lingers nicely. Very appetizing.
Overall, a fairly unique beer. I can't think of another IPA I've had that I could compare the flavor of this one too. Others are fruity, but this one takes the orange flavor to a whole other level. I'd probably rate it higher, but the beer was a little undercarbonated. Some more effervescence would probably open up the palate a bit more and enhance all those nice bitter fruity flavors.
