From the growler via Party Town in a snifter. This excellent brew with which I
got to talk to the brewer (and his young babe) is a very nice experience. This ale
pours a muddy and murky dark brownish black with a light head of off white
foam that dissipates quickly to a razor thin ring. Nose of rum, oak, strong boozy
astringent alcohol, hints of orange zest, and touches of brown sugar and vanilla.
Flavors follow the nose and exceed with aplomb. Dates and dark cherries mingle
with rum and oak over a bed of orange pith and zest with vanilla coming on in the
read heavy laden with medium brown sugars and light touches of cocoa. Nice mouth
feel; medium body, smooth, rich, warming, boozy, sweet, ultra low carbonation, and a
dry very warming finish.
Overall, a SOLID brew from a great brewery.
