At Beereau Berlin take home. Sharp Imp Stout, great place.
Odd beer.
a) slashes big tan lace over lacing head and a pitch black body. As nice a look as seen ever.
s) Lots of smoke almost to the point of standing down wide of creasote buring logs, or gasoline.
t) Smoke on the tongue, but ex-smoker, that's sweet, and it's sweet with ABV prominent. Liquorice, leather.
f) Thin for its strength, oddly medicinal. Alcoholic.
o) Weird lighter fluid, charcoal starter stout.

Quite sour, almost as if it was aged in Red Wine Barrels and not in Whisky casks.
The peat smoke comes through, but it's not punching you in the face like the actual Ardbeg Whisky.
While i'm not a fan of acidic Stouts this still works well.

Pours a pitch black coloration with a medium, creamy, lasting head. Smell is rather peaty, with some roasted, caramel malt, chocolate and licorice coming through as well. Taste follows the nose, being dominated by roasted, caramel malt and a strong peaty character, as well as ligher notes of chocolate, licorice, tobacco and dark fruits: fig, raisins. Finishes with a medium bitterness and quite a bit of peat lingering in the aftertaste. Full mouthfeel with a medium body and carbonation.

This is actually one of the better Laphroaig barrel-aged Stouts I've had, with a strong, peaty character that is balanced nicely by some roasted, caramel malts and dark fruits without ever becoming too sweet. Body/mouthfeel could be a little richer, but still quite an enjoyable example of the style.
