On-tap at Heinen's in University Hts., Ohio
This beer was brewed exclusively for Heinen's. At first I thought this was a sneak peak of 2XTangier, but this is a separate brew to my knowledge. This pours a light burnt golden with nice clarity; small white head. Looks nice. The aromas are subtle with some cracker malts and some citrus. The tangerines aren't overwhelming, but blend well with everything. The flavors seem to follow the nose. Tangerines are obviously there with hints of peach. Very earthy. Lots of fresh grass with some hints of pine in the mix. Alcohol goes completely unnoticed. Mouthfeel is nice. It's on the lighter side of full-bodied with very active carbonation. Very smooth stuff.
Although this might not be my new personal favorite Southern Tier IPA, it's still very nice. The thing I like most about it is that it drinks like an actual beer and not a fruit cocktail like alot of the "fruit IPAs". I also appreciate them doing something special and exclusive for the NE Ohio craft beer drinkers. Check it out if you see it.
