On draft. Poured a cloudy, golden yellow color with a small, off-white head of bubbly foam. It left sticky sheets of lace on the glass. It smelled of vanilla, orange, pineapple and sweet toasted caramel. Nice vanilla and cream taste with tropical fruit and some toffee sweetness.

MIlkshake IPA brewed with Citra, Mosaic, Amarillo, and Azacca hops with milk sugar and vanilla added. Poured from a can into a Mash Cult pub glass. The pour is hazy (not super-hazy) and sports a very thin 1/2-finger head of off-white foam. Not very well-attenuated. Definitely smells like a good milkshake IPA. I get soft notes of citrus fruit, a little pine, and some creamy vanilla.

Medium-light body with a soft feel and a pleasant flavor. Mild graininess up front and a subtle bitterness throughout offset by faint flavors of creamy vanilla and milky sweetness. I would like to taste the hops just a bit more and the vanilla just a bit less, but other than that it is darn drinkable. Southern Tier did a great job here. They nailed the soft feel courtesy of oats on the mashbill. An excellent example of the style, but I still prefer to buy these from one of the local breweries around me that really kill it with this kind of beer (like Streetside, Braxton Labs, Sonder, and Listermann). I'd like to see Southern Tier continue to release this. Perhaps even some fruited variants (mango and orange julius variants should be no-brainers).

16oz can poured into a tulip

A- pours a slightly hazy pale yellow color with a one-finger foamy white head that has good retention

S- bold vanilla cream aroma up front, followed by fruity hop notes of grapefruit, melon, tangerine, guava & mango. Milk sugars close it out

T- creamy sweet vanilla up front is quickly followed by a blast of juicy hops; tangerine, grapefruit, green melon. Mid-palate gives some mint-like notes, as well as milk sugars. The finish gives more sweet vanilla, with citrusy hops on the linger

M- medium body with medium carbonation leads to a foamy mouthfeel that continues into a sweet finish

O- plenty of vanilla up front, complimented by an array of citrusy hops

Southern Tier hit this one out of the park! Smooth, creamy, vanilla-y, orangey goodness. Wish this was a year round offering. A great representation of a Milkshake IPA!

Southern Tier Vanilla Whipp is a "milkshake IPA". I originally picked it up thinking it was a vanilla porter or stout. After the disappointment wore off, I decided to give it a go, despite not being a fan of lactose brews. It pours a juicy yellowish color, with a white head. The aroma smells of citrus, with hints of sweetness. The flavor is similar to the smell. The mouthfeel has an off taste towards the back the tongue.

This isn't the worst beer I've had, but it's not a vanilla porter.

This one was so close to being good. It has a lot of good characteristics that fit a really juicy Northeast IPA but they went a little overboard on the vanilla which ruined it for me. Southern Tier is solid but this was a slight miss.

L - Pale, hazy, milky yellow with a fluffy white head that sticks around leaving behind a good amount of lacing
S - Sweet, sugary milk and vanilla along with some piney hops and tropical fruits
T - Follows the nose - sweet, sugary milk up front followed by sweet vanilla with some piney, bitter hops mixed with tropical fruit notes - pineapple and mango
F - Medium bodied with a moderate amount of carbonation. Soft and smooth
O - A very solid NEIPA. On the sweeter side, but it really holds up to some of the more well known NEIPAs out there

This is the first milkshake IPA I’ve ever tried and I am pleasantly surprised. I didn’t think I’d like them and have been avoiding them, but I, glad I picked this one up.

Pours a hazy, pale honey color with little head that dissipates quickly and leaves no lacing.
Smell reminds me of an orange creamsicle... vanilla and citrus, but neither overpowering the other. The citrus smell is light and pleasant with a warm musk of vanilla.

Taste is balanced and smooth. There’s a slight tingle of carbonation that gives way to the smoothness and creaminess that’s follows with a balanced citrus and vanilla flavors.
Other more complex notes of apricot emerge and an ever so mild sweetness that is clean and not sticky.
Definitely juicy and balanced. Would definitely recommend this one.

1 PINT can
Served in a stemless wine glass

This beer pours yellow and hazy. It is topped with a couple inches of off white head that leaves little lacing.

The smell is meringue and vanilla.

The vanilla is strong in this one. I get some fruit leaning towards citrus.

Medium bodied with a creamy mouthfeel

This is a tasty dessert beer. I would have passed except for the beer store guy's recommendation. I am glad I tried it.

interesting concoction , nice creamy head on hard pour that recedes quickly, opaque yellow in the glass , marshmallow, cotton candy and vanilla aroma. smooth mouthfeel. very prominent vanilla taste and too sweet for me , like drinking cup cake frosting, could stand more hop bitterness to balance out the vanilla. TO me this style of beer is more successful with use of fruits that are not naturally overly sweet to complement the hops., much harder to pull off with sweeter bakery adjuncts such vanilla, chocolate etc without venturing into the realm of things that are carbonated alcohol but not beer.

Enjoyable to have once but probably would not buy again .

From the bottom of the can: "D.O.B. 03/04/20 14/23/32 FL"

Appearance: The body is opaque with a light orange appearance. It has a thick fluffy head that is slightly off-white colored in a cream-like color. The head is large and fluffy with a nice cobweb of lacing. Good retention.

Aroma: It smells like powdered sugar, peach gummy candy, vanilla, and a bit of cotton candy. The aroma is very clean and it has a very nice reach from the glass. It is very enticing. It smells the most like peach gummy rings where the top is peach and the bottom has that white marshmallow.

Taste: It starts out with a bit of mango flavor, then a hint of peach and grapefruit, followed by an oat character and some shredded wheat flavor. It kind-of tastes a bit like cereal with dried fruit in it. There is an overall sweetness to the beer which is a bit like drinking the milk after eating a bowl of frosted shredded wheat.

Mouthfeel: It is a very clean beer with a nice mild bitterness and a pleasant light body. It finishes very clean and just feels like a well made beer overall.

Overall: The can states that this is made with "Barley, oats, and milk sugar" then mentions that it is "finished with vanilla." What really stands out about this beer is that all of the ingredients make an appearance. The oats could be tasted separate from the barley, there was a sweet milk sugar flavor that stood out, and it still manages to maintain a balance. The beer has a wonderful fruity character and a light bitterness which cuts back on the sweetness. I was highly impressed by this beer. It's a win for Southern Tier in my book. I'd love to drink it again and it's worth looking for if you want something a little bit sweet, a little fruity, but expertly well made. This would be a great beer to drink in place of a cocktail at the beach or poolside.

look: 4.25 | smell: 4.75 | taste: 5 | feel: 4.75 | overall: 4.75

Appearance:
Pours a hazy, regal, white gold and dons a pale, ivory beret of bubbles that evanesce quicker than a shooting star.

Bouquet:
The cool, energizing aroma of an authentic, mom-and-pop shop, vanilla milkshake infused with a delicate swirl of sugared hops and candied pineapple.

Feel:
I know not what manner of devil Southern Tier has bargained with to attain such outlandish sorcery, but somehow, Vanilla Whipp simultaneously manifests saccharine creaminess and the cold, crisp character of a summer IPA. Light bodied, with a passing afterthought of carbonation. The mouthfeel closely emulates cream soda-- only minus the harsh, acidulant linger native to those sugar-glutted soft drinks.

Taste:
Bona fide, vanilla bean ice cream followed by a trace of pineapple sorbet, and a handful of dried papaya. The creamed vanilla is bold and flirtatious without violating any personal boundaries. Tastes more like a fluffy, vanilla whipped cream than a milkshake, which is welcome subversion of expectations. Finishes with citrus hops that languish under a bracing, vanilla linger.

Overall:
Damn, it’s good! And best of all, IT ACTUALLY ADDS SOMETHING NEW to the world of IPAs. So many India Pales are stock, unimaginative, cardboard clones of each other that one hardly seems to matter when compared with another. Vanilla Whipp breaks this overused formula with gestalt and poise. It’s a rewarding experience, try one!

Came across this and remembered seeing it on the trending section so I thought, why not? Canned 3/4/20

Pours pretty much like a standard neipa, hazy pale gold with a finger of fluffy white head that fades after the first sip, no lacing

Really sweet vanilla bean is the first to greet the nose, followed by some nondescript citrus. Almost cloyingly sweet aromas

The taste is thankfully not as intense. Rather, the vanilla plays a nice supporting role to the modest hopping. The vanilla more or less smoothes over the tropical tastes of tangerine and mango

Medium bodied and drinks super creamy and thick, medium carbonation and finishes a bit sticky

Not bad overall, but nothing to go searching for. Different for sure, but I probably wouldn't get it again

[IMG] Poured into a 13 oz Teku glass canned on 3/5/2020. Pours an attractive hazy orange with a solid finger sticky white head that leaves thin streaks of lace, with solid retention. 4.25

Smell is vanilla, sherbet, pineapple, and papaya. 4

Taste follows sherbet, pineapple, vanilla, and papaya tasty. 4.25

Mouthfeel is average, slightly sticky but not dry, soft gentle carbonation, and at 6.5% easy drinking. 4

Overall a nice different take on a juice bomb, no wow factor but still tasty and really unique. 4 Has Southern Tier Brewing Company written all over it.

A - Very hazy and borderline opaque light orange color with a dense white lacing ring.

S - Big time citrus and vanilla on the nose, no more, no less and "just as advertised".

T - Nice vanilla and citrus from start to finish. Finishes with lingering vanilla on the palate with a slight bit of citrus buried

M - Big and thick (like a milkshake ... go figure, huh?).

O - This is a rock solid beer and a recommended IPA hybrid to try.

Pours slightly hazy, gold in color with 1/3 inch head. Taste is big citrus, orange, tangerine, and a nice vanilla finish. Light bodied, high carbonation, slightly sweet. Makes for a really good ipa. The vanilla taste never overwhelms the ipa. Glad I got the four pack. Another winner from Southern Tier.

Pours a hazy yellow with a white head on top, pretty still looking and not much lacing. The smell of the beer really shines here, it's got a really nice blend of vanilla cream and tropical citrus hops going on. The taste is sweet but not to the point of where it's get disgusting or makes you feel like you need an insulin shot, but it really does give the impression of a milkshake. The feel is on the thicker side, I wouldn't call it refreshing but it's something like rich or decadent. Overall it's a pretty solid beer for the style they were attempting.

Found a single in my local adult beverage venue. Love IPA but maybe not so much some of the variants.
This is a milkshake style. Limited release from Southern Tier. A pale orange color with
small head. Smell was some citrus and lots of vanilla. Taste was smooth and creamy. Pretty low bitterness. Overall the more I drank the more I liked it. Best representative for this type of IPA for me.
