A: The beer is clear dark yellow in color and has a light amount of visible carbonation. It poured with a quarter finger high dense off white head.
S: Moderate aromas of caramel syrup are present in the nose.
T: The taste follows the smell and has lots of flavors of caramel syrup along with underlying notes of coffee.
M: It feels medium-bodied and very smooth on the palate with a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: This beer tastes just like a caramel macchiato. It's like drinking Starbucks in a can that also provides a buzz.

Four pack copped from Total Wine and More in West Orange. Pours a deep amber hue with extreme frothing and a very pungent caramel aroma. Sweet, cloying flavor that strongly mimics cinnamon rolls and nougat. Hits hard. Loses points for lack of drinkability. Beware of taste-crushing beers...

Looks more like a iced coffee than a stout but the nitro did make for a nice full inch of fluffy head. Smell is intense like a sugary sweet cold coffee drink with plenty of vanilla and chocolate goodness. WOW what a sweet flavor! Hits you over the head with caramel and milk sugars rounds out a bit with some cocoa and cold coffee and finishes heavy bread and slight alcohol twang.
Not sure if I would buy it again when I first saw it I thought it would compare to Mokah but its more like Crème Brûlée sticky and sweet. Worth a try if you love sweet beers!

A dessert beer for dessert beers...
Sweeter than most beers I categorize as dessert beers, the nitro always gets me. I love pouring them and drinking them, definitely better than most other carbonation methods.
Anyway, it’s creamy texture fits the sweet taste, but, for beer I expect something a tad more balanced. This wasn’t necessarily balanced but it was a very tasty ending to a nice Sunday evening.

A - Looks like a sludgy glass from the poo water treatment plant (aside from the creamy white layer of head resting on top). Lots of viscosity on the sides of the glass with lots of legs. (but the color ... )
S - Coffee, caramel, and cream dominate the nose. I'm not a coffee drinker but the aroma is intoxicating on the senses.
T - Nice flavor intensity from start to finish: Bold caramel, caramel cream / cream, delicate coffee, and delicate dark roasted malt with light char and finishes on the sweeter side with a tiny bit of alcohol poking through.
M - Soft, silky, and thick on the palate and with a slight sugar residue on the lips.
O - I'm always impressed with Southern Tier's Blackwater Series and this doesn't disappoint. Definitely worth checking out.

On nitro tap at Southern Tier Brewing in Lakewood, NY.
This one pours a golden amber color, with a small but fluffy head, and a little bit of lacing.
This smells like sugary sweet caramel, coffee creamer, vanilla, breadiness, and frosting.
This is extremely sweet, but that's what Southern Tier has been doing for a very long time, and I kind of expect it. It's not teeth-melting, but it's close. The creamy taste from the nitro does help round this out - I think it would honestly taste sweeter without that.
This is creamy, rich, and with not much booziness. It drinks quite sweet, which makes it a slower sipper.
This is decent enough, but too sweet for me to want to try again.

Had to create an account for this...I check reviews a lot for beers. I almost exclusively drink stouts/porters and the options are often odd anywhere you go.
I love coffee stouts. I love vanilla stouts. I like a good desert beer. On paper, everything about this beer seemed up my alley. I checked the reviews - 90/100 looks great.
Imagine my disappointment when I tried this beer.... it is SICKLY sweet. It's nigh undrinkable. All of the notes are way too strong, like I'm drinking a caramel syrup.
The look and feel are pretty typical of a nitro stout. The smell definitely is the first warning of the god awful flavor.
My girlfriend has the same taste as me - if anything she's even more into this flavor profile. I witheld my opinion as not to bias, and when I talked with her about it later, she basically completely agreed - despite sounding like everything we'd want, it was extremely difficult to finish. we have 2 more cans sitting in our fridge and neither dares to touch them .
Please let this be a warning to stout drinkers - Unless you have a real sweet tooth and what I described as negatives are literally up your alley, you may just be disgusted by this beer.

L: deep copper colored body; thinner beige nitro head
S: sweet caramel, grain, vanilla, coffee
T: sweet & quite boozy; caramel, coffee, toffee, vanilla, brown sugar, lactose
F: fuller body, very syrupy, could use more carbonation, alcohol sneaks up on you
O: not as good as expected, especially with all the high reviews
