The nose on the original bottled Thick Mint was more minty than chocolatey. The nitro version appears to be the exact opposite with a nose dominated by dark chocolate with a secondary minty quality. Also, the nitro gives this offering a feeling of more heft, so the "thickness" comes through more in this version than in the original bottled version.

Poured into a straight sided tumbler. With nitrogen, had a double layer head or could see three distinct layers. Only 9.6 oz of liquid in a 12 oz can, but at 10% SBV it will be enough.
Smells like hot chocolate as predicted. Smooth and thick on the tongue. Intense chocolate taste, primarily milk but some tones of dark chocolate. Bitter after taste. Can’t get the marshmallows. Just like drinking a chilled version of hot chocolate. Doesn’t really have a taste of alcohol despite being 10%.

Pours black. Creamy foam. Minty aroma. Big chocolate mint body. Sweet cocoa finish. Silky smooth. Not too sweet. Delicious. One of the best of the blackwater series.

Nitro can poured into a snifter

A- pours black in color with a a thick and creamy light khaki head that eventually reduces to a two-finger floater

S- aroma smells just like a thin mint cookie; peppermint, vanilla, milk sugars and milk chocolate. Undertones of light roast

T- creamy milk chocolate note up front with a lactose sweetness that adds a hint of vanilla. Mid-palate brings out a bold peppermint note that cuts through the sweetness. The finish gives more milk chocolate, with a linger of milk and vanilla cream

M- thick body with a creamy mouthfeel turns into a velvety finish, abv hidden well

O- another great nitro blackwater series release. This has been one of my favorite continuing series, by far

I'm not normally one for nitro beer, the texture is too smooth for me. However, I like mint and Southern Tier is a solid brewery. I found this lone Nitro Thick Mint and pounced. Upon opening the can, the smell of mint was present about eighteen inches above. It pours a chocolate milkshake brown that cascades into darkness with a coffee colored head. The nose is reminiscent of a mint cookie. While the taste mostly matches, albeit with a slight off flavor, the nitro is distracting to me. I want to like this, but I'd prefer a traditional CO2 can, and I bet it'd taste even better.

Purchased at Wegmans, Warrington, PA. 4pk/9.5oz cans.

After an aggressive, nitro charged burst on the initial opening, pours a deep black color with a beautiful two-finger, tight bubble, dense, mocha colored head. The head fades but lingers during the entire session.

The aroma is like smelling a chocolate peppermint patty.

A truly delicious brew. The brew taste like a melted, creamy peppermint patty. Very sweet. Notes of chocolate and espresso. Slightly bitter aftertaste. The ABV is well hidden.

Heavier consistency. Very creamy with delicate carbonation from the nitro.

Another winner in the Southern Tier Blackwater Series. A true dessert-type sipper. Not a beer that I’d drink more of one a night just due to the sweetness and heavier consistency. But a beer you’ll enjoy just sipping and savoring. Recommended…Cheers!!

Nitro Thick Mint pours black, with a big tan creamy head. Creamy milk chocolate notes, with mint. Flavor is also creamy milk chocolate, and mint. Good strong flavors.

Opaque black with a substantial creamy milk chocolate colored head that retains well and produces very nice lace.
The aroma is dark chocolate and mint, just like the girl scout cookies.
The taste is dark chocolate, peppermint, cream with hints of espresso and caramel, all very smoothly balanced and complimentary.
The body is full, creamy and exceptionally smooth.
Altogether this an excellent and very enjoyable brew, Dessert in a glass, with just a hint of alcohol warmth at the finish for an added touch.

A - Pitch black pour with a one fingered dense, creamy caramel colored head that rests on top after the pour.

S - All chocolate, cream, and mint on the nose. Overall aroma is pretty fantastic and smells like a liquid peppermint patty.

T - Tastes exactly how it smells, think liquid peppermint pattie. Dark chocolate, dark chocolate sweetness, mint, and a slight bit of cream. Ends with a long, lingering chocolate mint on the palate. The ABV is completely hidden and is dangerously drinkable.

M - Thick and silky on the texture with a tad bit of dryness on the back of the tongue while the rest of the mouth is wet.

O - Southern Tier has a winner with this one. Highly recommended.

Exactly as described. The chocolate and mint play together so very well with the creaminess from the nitro. Great beer.
