Kristianstad 20/10 2021. 50 cl bottle from Restaurang Martini, Döbelnsgatan, Kristianstad. Dark ornamental label with a lot of details and a brewers signature in gold.
Pours dark maroon with a big white head. Settles as 0,4 cm thick layer of foam covering the surface of the beer. Substantial lacing.
Aroma is moderately intense with a sweet almost sugary odor of dark malts mingling with a scent of arm sweat and metal.
Light carbonation. Thin, watery, almost flat texture.
Flavor is medium intense with a rather strong sweetness followed by a modest bitterness. Aftertaste is sweet and thin and lingers shortly. Finish is sweetish and a bit watery.
Too sweet and too thin. The fact that this beer is a bit thin and watery helps me survive the sugary sweetness. Nothing is so bad it ain’t good for something.

It pours very dark with no head whatsoever, and smells like a bit of hops, some burned, maybe coffee-like malt, and a bit of chalk.
I liked the taste well enough--starts malty sweet, fades into a hop bitter background with some flashes of coffee and a dark fruit. Dry characteristics overall.
I wasn't a fan of the mouthfeel, which I found oily and fizzy rather than smooth, but I still really liked drinking the beer.

Appearance: light brown, very slight haze, bubbly layer of froth that quickly flattens to a thin cap and then to nothing
Aroma: bready maltiness, fairly clean, toast, low hops; faintly reminiscent of the Scandinavian dark rye "brick" bread
Flavor: mild malt sweetness w/ a toasty overtone, herbally hops, weak coffee, grain, finishes dry with a slight malt aftertaste; generally a bit thin
Mouthfeel: medium body, fine carbonation, crisp texture
Other comments: It can be hard to find interesting beer in a Swedish supermarket (all the good stuff sits behind Systembolaget's doors) because all you can get is Class I and Class II stuff. This was the only thing that caught my eye at the Maxi ICA store I was in. Shlepped it back to England and reviewed it. Not too bad. Even my wife, who doesn't like beer, thought it was OK.

The colour is clear, deep brown with a tingle of amber. The foam is white and it dissolves in moderate speed from a large head of big bubbles to a small, compact one (without crater).
The delicate smell has got an unusual scent of chalk and sweet canned peas, but there are also notes of very dry hops and burned malt.
The fresh and strong carbonation keeps just on the right side of the border from being prickly. The carbon dioxide last through the whole gulp, and it is leaving a somewhat fizzy feel.
The first taste is a burned, malt flavour that develops into a fine mix of sweet malt and a good bitterness from the hops. There is a somewhat sour taste that is replaced with a mild bitterness. Somewhere in the aftertaste, a clear and almost chalk-like dry bitterness is balanced with a noticeable saltiness.
This is yet another fine dark lager (it seems like a lot of those is introduced right now, may it be some kind of trend?) that works with some unusual, really dry notes.
Oh, the name. It translates into "the Master Brewer's Best Dark Lager".
