Enjoyed at the Copenhagen Beer Festival. Reviewed from notes.

A - Poured a nice rich dark black hue with a good two finger mocha head that fades slowly to leave nice lacing.

S - Aromas of big bourbon, nice fudgy chocolate, vanilla, good barrel notes.

T - Taste is similar to the nose. Excellent bourbon flavour and barrel, great fudgy rich chocolate, tons of oaky vanilla, cocoa powder.

M - Mouthfeel is a bit on the thinner side, lightly carbonated, bit boozy.

O - Overall this was a very nice imperial stout. Excellent bourbon notes here, though perhaps it is a bit on the hot side.

Sample at Mikkeller Beer Celebration Copenhagen 2017, blue session. Black color with creamy brown head. Aroma has mostly vanilla and sweet chocolate. Taste is sweet with vanilla, lactose, cacao, dark chocolate and a roasty bitter finish. Medium body and carbonation. Taste is quite sharp overall.

650ml bottle. Served in a snifter glass. Pours a dark black body, opaque and oily, one finger thick mocha head, strong retention and bits of lacing. Smell is rich acrid coffee at first when it's cold; as it warms up, more chocolate sweetness comes out, even a little bit of roast marshmallow. The coffee plays better with the malt and the cocoa when it warms up. So my main recommendation is to let this warm up some. Flavour is a ridiculous blend of all the flavours we love in stouts- milk chocolate, roast, bitter cocoa, slightly nutty, espresso and then the marshmallow kicks in at the end. Wonderful cavalcade of flavours that works really well to make the drinking experience a pleasurable one. Mouthfeel is fuller bodied, good carbonation, plenty of depth to it, with marshmallow frolicking on the backend. Loved this one; an excellent complex imperial adjunct stout that did not need any barrel-aging behind it.

650 mL bottle. Black without much of a head. Smells of dark chocolate, coffee, and bourbon. Smells like a chocolate bar. Tastes of coffee and dark chocolate. Bourbon. Boozy finish. Pretty sweet, but enough bitterness to peg back the sugars. Heavy. Very impressive, and even though it’s not the easiest to drink, I went back for more.

I was fortunate to have gotten 3 bottles; it still blows my mind that the website sold out in 15 seconds upon release. What really stood out for me is the intense chocolate smell and sweet chocolate taste. I was a fan of the aroma and flavors, but one of the people who I poured this for thought it was a little overbearing. Despite that, this was an amazing beer and I look forward to new releases from Abnormal in the future. On a closing note, given how smooth this beer is you would never have guessed it was 12.4%. Delicious.

This beer was really phenomenal. Poured a nice dark color. Had a great chocolate smell. The taste was like straight fudge. So good for a beer that is not barrel aged. If you like chocolate (and I do) then you gotta try this.

Poured out of a bottle at a share. Flat out amazing. Perfect balance of coffee, vanilla, chocolate, and stout. It was rich, creamy, and delightful. Wish I had more of this one!

Pour at Mostra anni party. Really the highlight of the day (and that includes summation). Rich decadent chocolate blends amazingly well with the Mostra coffee. Great balance not sweet or too bitter. Medium body, everything you can wish for in a stout.
