still pretty new to these guys, but this one really impressed me. a new zealand ipa and a darn good one. so many breweries strive for beer like this, but never quite get enough out of the hops, this is so pure and clean and good, almost a cold fermented briskness to it, but the hop varietals pop, are so obviously southern hemisphere, and i am obsessed with how light and easy this is, unfiltered yeah, but effervescent feeling, light in body as the style goes, and lower in alcohol too, could have drank these all night long if left to my own devices. its really blonde, low glowing yellow colored with nearly two inches of wispy white head on top, looks real lively and kind of delicate, almost more witbier than ipa, soft and upbeat at the same time. really wish i knew wheat the hop varietals in here were, but i dont, i just love it though, in nose and taste its fresh and forward and bright, without bitterness greenness, harshness, or really all the much intensity. papaya, french melon, honeysuckle, green gooseberry, white coconut, kiwi fruit, mandarin oranges from the can, lemongrass, lime leaf, lemon candy, and maybe a hint of vanilla too, the nose and taste hit about the same, fresh and botanical, fruity without the normal new school forced juiciness, and extra light on the grain overall, i feel it more than i taste it, puffy and fluffy and dry, but without a ton of taste, this is all hops. its so bright and light, springy and verdant, and it really showcases what new zealand hops are all about, better than most. the carbonation is really high and that makes this light to drink, bitterness being lower also aids in making this a pounder, but i love the hop complexion and reckon this is one of the better hoppy beers ive had so far this year, really well done! hoping to see more from these guys around idaho, having this on tap was rad.
