Lovely black brew, decent head with OK retention. Dark mocha head.
Huge and lovely coffee aroma! Touch of mustiness, but otherwise no sign of the barrel.
Huge coffee notes, a touch of chocolatey malt, and slightly sour notes of oak. Light vanilla; no bourbon.
Really smooth, with a touch of chest warmth.
I get virtually no bourbon from this, but the coffee flavor is as strong as ever, and even smoother than the regular version.

32oz growler from the brewery. Pours a very viscous black color with an inch of medium brown head. Good amount of lacing. The aroma is lots of chocolate syrup, coffee, vanilla, and just a hint of wood from the barrel. The taste starts with the boozey warmth from the Whiskey and a fair amount of wood. The Whiskey is followed up by lots of cocoa and chocolate syrup. Espresso towards the finish with a bit more of the Whiskey. Some roasted malts as well. Heavy mouthfeel. Everything blends together very well with the Whiskey nicely in the background throughout. A nice improvement on a beer that was a nice improvement on an already great beer (if that makes sense). Overall, fantastic.
