An altbier, like a Kölsch, traditionally is a hybrid beer: an ale that is lagered (cold-stored) for an extended period. We decided to make ours a SMaSH beer (SMaSH = Single Malt and Single Hop). This beer is 100% Red X malt (which we use in Hopsteady and in The Academy GPA) and Tettnang hops (seen in Swell ECL). Clean, crisp finish. Smells like fresh bread. Tastes like lightly toasted bread.
