As Oktoberfest Biere go, this one is perfectly fine, perhaps a step behind Sam Adams, but certainly not bad. That said, it doesn't do much exceptionally well, either. It's flavorful, drinkable, and good, but it's not quite great.
Over the course of a 12 ounce pour, it's simply a bit to malty and sweet, without enough balancing hops to make the experience a lasting positive one. Again, it doesn't do much wrong, but it simply isn't one of the best beers in the style.

Large, four-finger head with moderate lasting power. It leaves some small streaks on the glass. Deep, dark amber color. Clear.
Rich, mostly sweet caramel malt smell. A touch of peat smoke.
Darker colored bread flavor. Above average body with moderate carbonation. Light nuttiness and alcohol in the swallow. Relatively short aftertaste.
