Modest head production and poor retention. Turbid opaque dark orange body.
Slightly sharp and aromatic nose. Pleasant enough, with notes of orange, strawberry, grapefruit, and mango, but nothing particularly complex.
A bit thicker on the palate with some noticeable malt base, but still well shy of expectations given the high ABV. Strawberry is perhaps most prominent, mostly drowning out the hops and mango, including a not insignificant tartness. Definitely a fruited IPA verging on sour IPA territory, but it's missing any "oomph" from the hop expression.
Overall, a fairly disappointing, if tasty, IPA from a brewery that does many styles quite well. I expected something more expressive and smooth for an anniversary beer.
