another clever banger from these guys, hazy ipa with hibiscus added, super flavorful, the hibiscus is real compatible with these hops, and the whole thing is fun and different, loved it. murky pink toned beer from the tap like pink lemonade, frothy headed with slow dissipation. the nose is tea-like, springy, with hibiscus quite obvious, a hint of grapefruit with the hops, even rose wine and some trace acidity, sexy and feminine, but darn hoppy too, key lime, meyer lemon, and subtle gin botanicals, lots going on, atop what feels like a wheaty base, could be some raw unmalted wheat here too. the flavor is citrus forward from the hops but i do kind of get a gin drink vibe too, the hibiscus adds a lot, some bitterness that plays up the hop bitterness, i dig that in a hazy, and also an almost strawberry note, slightly medicinal in a good way, seems almost healthy to me. tart cranberry up front too, fleshy citrus middle, starchy cereal malt base but its not too heavy. and not as heavy as it kind of looks, good carbonation helps too. i love the back end tang and the boldness of the hibiscus, an awesome idea here and very well done. not sure i have seen a floral addition to a hazy ipa before, works really well, at least with these hops. this is where outer light is at their best, no frills creative beers done with intent. this beer made me happy.
