Draft at the brewery
Huge foamy thick rocky head with good retention and great lacing, semi hazy copper color
Nose nice smoke, little campfire, smoked cheese like cold smoke, mild doughy sweet malt, wheat biscuit and a hint of caramelization
Taste brings more of the tamed smoke, rich creamy wheat and bread dough, wheat biscuits and some toasted bread crust, light fruity esters hint of bitterness, smoke lingering with more cold smoked cheese character, a bit more bitterness and little spicy hop on the semi sweet creamy finish
Mouth is med bod fairly creamy, med frothy carb
Overall quite nice, great smoky character with balance and good base weizen

Tasted at the brewery taproom.
Dark copper color and slightly hazy. Nice, off-white head. Aroma is a bit odd. I think a low smoky note is combining with the wheat beer aromas in an odd combination that comes across like wet leather. Dunkelweizen flavors up front and smoke comes in later in palate. Slight skunky note that could be hops or could be the wheat/smoke combo again. Medium to thick body and creamy feel. This beer is unique, but for me it doesn't quite come together.
