This beer has potential it doesn’t quite reach it. The appearance is nice, limited carbonation and light tan head that lingers - perfect for the style. Smell is boozy chocolate malt and whiskey, limited roast. Not much there aroma-wise. Taste is instant whiskey with some caramel and hints of chocolate on the back end. Slight oak dryness hangs on the tongue after the drink. This is interesting, but I don’t think it would be a very good imperial stout without the barrel influence. The base beer could really use another couple layers of roast and chocolate. Big beers don’t need to be this one-dimensional. Balance is a little off as a result of the heavy booze and limited malt and beer balance to offset. Not a bad beer, but a missed opportunity for something great.

Had this at Kinkaider in Broken Bow, on tap, 10/21/2017
Stemmed glass. Very Dark. minimal but creamy head.
Moderate to thick mouthfeel.
Coffee notes dominate with some chocolate.
Carbonation mild to moderate, not astringent. Easy to hold a mouthful and experience flavors.
very mellow in the throat and afterwards. Whisky notes in the throat and nose after swallowing. ABV gives a warmth but no "paint thinner" aspects noted.
Had this beer with Onion Rings and Bacon Cheeseburger.
I've had plenty of stouts and a few Imperials, but this was the first in the 11%+ range. Compared to something like "Certified Evil" Oatmeal stout, this is far more mellow.
Brother-In-Law said he'd "like one of those on a cold winter day, with green pork chili on the stove"
Bought a bottle onsite for my boss. Waiting to see his impression.
