Before a buddy of mine moved out of town, I wanted to introduce him to this brewery since it is a local favorite of mine. While there I decided to try out the Orange Cozmo which I had not seen before.
This beer features a frothy white head that dissipates slowly to a thin lacing that is retained. The beer itself is an orangish gold color, without becoming a light amber, and is cloudy. There is some light carbonation visible, but not much. 4/5 Orange is very prevalent in the aroma, along with orange peel, light caramel, citrus fruit, and grapefruit flesh. This is a very hop forward aroma with only a very light malt characteristic to it. 3.75/5 Fresh white bread initially hits the taste buds before quickly transitioning to notes of orange pulp and orange juice. Just like the aroma, the flavor is very focused on oranges. Imagine that! There is a bit of light orange peel that comes through along with grapefruit pulp and juice as well. There is a moderate bitterness that lingers on the palate lightly, but not as strong as expected based on the hop forward nature of the flavor. 3.75/5 This beer is light to medium bodied and features a very light carbonation tickle on the front end that disappears fairly quickly. There is a light drying that lingers slightly upon swallowing. 3.75/5 This is a very straightforward orange focused pale ale that is very sessionable and enjoyable to drink. Complicated, it is not, but it doesn't have to be. This one definitely lives up to its namesake. 3.75/5
