Enjoyed from a 5oz glass during the 7th-anniversary celebrations in Lombard. Looks like a brown ale and feels like one on the tongue. Smell is orange citrus and the cherries. Taste at first -- didn't wait much for it to warm after being served -- was an off-putting prune in combat with the barrel aging. This gradually disappears and the taste begins to more match the nose, but it takes some swishing around the mouth to reveal the flavors. Very interesting profile; as someone who's not generally a fan of BA beers, the 5 oz was enough.

Poured from the bottle a murky brown with a frothy tan collar and surface lacing. I went in not expecting much as I found the orignal BA BRDI to be a bit of a mess with some redeeming qualities. However the orange peel and cherry, while both present were not obnoxious or sickly sweet, and really accented the wood forward barrel and drier bourbon well. Supporting brown sugar, whiskey bitters, slight molasses, leather, caramel, and smoky earth added nice layers. Smell is not as descriptive, leaning heavily on the barrel and fruit, which is fine by any means. Feel is still a little thin despite wood tannins and booze, but with this flavoring combo it works well. The wife loved it

750 ml bottle into a tulip snifter. Had 3/9/18.
Pours a dark amber, semi- opaque, with a short, quickly dissipating head and sparse, spotty lacing. Aromas of malt, cherries, caramel, figs, dates, bourbon, brown sugar, light orange, a little oak. The taste is more bourbon forward, then malt, oak, caramel, cherries, dates, light orange. Some bitterness, especially on the finish, light alcohol. Smooth, a good medium body, appropriately carbonated on the low side.
The Heaven Hill barrels are great, the cherries are a solid addition, the orange is subtle, but contributes. Really good aroma. This one is better when totally warm.
