Pours a lovely shiny dark black color - completely opaque and viscous. Thin dark brown head dissipates but not completely as a thin film is left on top of the beer.
Aroma has notes of roasted charred malts, tobacco, and a tart berry fruitiness.
Taste profile is interesting. Initially there is a fleeting moment of charred malts, tobacco and ash that quickly is taken over by a tart berry note. Not jammy - its more like fresh tart berries in the beer. As that settles down, you get that charred malt coming back into view and then you get some nice piney hops on the finish.
Feel is thick, viscous, with a moderate, smooth carbonation.
Overall a really nice stout with a flavorful twist from Noon Whistle.
