This Doppelbock has a toffee and raisin aroma that fades into a subtle rich chocolate and biscuit body. It finishes with dark fruit and notes of Rye Whiskey from the aging in Journeyman Rye Whiskey Barrels.

12 oz undated can poured into a pint glass shows a mostly opaque, dark mahogany body that gives off an orange glow with sheets of rising bubbles when backlit. A hearty pour earns a 1/2 in head of khaki foam that falls to an edge-hugging ring and leaves a clean glass behind.
Toffee and raisin aromas swirl above the glass joined by the spice, oak, and earthiness of the rye. The flavor matches but comes off a bit sweet.
Mouthfeel leans a lighter medium and finishes clean and wet.
Overall a nice double with the addition of oak and rye notes.

12 ounce can into a pilsner glass. Dated 10/25/20- l think, had 12/8/20.
Pours an opaque dark brown, with a two inch head of creamy foam with terrific retention and lots of thick, foamy lacing. Looks great. Aromas of rye whiskey, caramel, malt, raisins, some bread and brown sugar, light molasses and chocolate, light oak and leather. The flavors are more compact than the aroma- caramel, malt, bread, raisins, some rye whiskey, light chocolate, light leather as it warms. Smooth, a little creamy, a very good medium body that’s a touch lighter for the style, well carbonated.
Impressive effort. Great barrels, terrific aroma, solid flavor, on- point for the style, if a little lighter. A welcome style addition to all the BA stouts and barleywines.
