Another review from the Sierra Nevada Single, Fresh, Wet & Wild Festival held on their lot in Chico, CA. 1st review of this beer on BA.
Pours a dark golden color, not much clarity going for it, 1/4" white head. Smells like a bittering hop. Whichever experimental one was Mosaic, this was not it. Almost polar opposite of Mosaic in that department, just a generic flavorless bitterness in the nose.
More of the same taste wise, at best there was a slight grassiness to it, but it was mostly that one trick bitter pony all along. Not really sure what the point of some of these "experimental" ipas that drop the same vapid bitterness that some of the classic hops do. Again, nothing terrible or off, but there seems to be nothing "experimental" here, I've had plenty of bitter ipas that offer little in the way of actual hop flavors beyond the bland bitterness. And here, even when you think about it, all you come up with is pine and rind, which is about the most common kinds of hoppy notes, so to what end gentlemen?
