1st review of this beer on BA. Had it at the Sierra Nevada Single, Fresh, Wet & Wild festival held on the fairgrounds in Chico, CA.
I believe there was a Denali hopped one and Mosaic hopped one back then, they didn't have proper names yet. Crazy to think how ubiquitous Mosaic is just 6-7 years later.
Pours golden, 1/3" white head. Good clarity. Aroma was big on the pine, which smacks of Nugget (parentage of) Denali. Denali reminds me of my Nugget and Chinook hops that overlap and grow onto each other. Big pine and rind combo, strong style bitterness Nakamura.
Taste is pretty standard and reliable. Denali seems to do at a more expensive price point what a lot of Classic C hops do So you get a firm bitterness rooted in the old school hop flavors. Perhaps it is more efficient, but even assuming arguendo that it is, you're still just playing a shell game with proprietary hops mimicking their parentage. Reliable for sure but hardly experimental at the end of the day, its more of the ol' familiar, which is fine.
