This is an excellent strong dark German-style lager, theoretically and broadly a marzen/oktoberfest if a little strong for that category. I had it on tap at Sprenger's in Santa Rosa.
Pale amber (very dark, coppery gold), it has a very big off-white head steadily thinning to a rich foamy ring, wisps, nice lace.
Aroma is nice rich malty caramelly barley and bread, spicy herbal hop.
Taste is nice spicy-sweet caramelly barley and toast, herbal spicy hop bitterness to back it up; sweeter up front with more bitterness later, it is nicely balanced and with a firm, rich character. feel is nice, a bit creamy but lively, not watery or oily. It's great with bbq chicken, burgers, fries.
