Served in a tulip at the brewery.
Murky brown color and little head. Oatmeal-colored rim of lace. 4
Huge toasted coconut aroma, vanilla, oak and some heat. Smells like dessert. 4.5
Still tastes of toasted coconut but with oatmeal cookie flavors from the barreling. Oak and bourbon notes with dark fruit. Some buttery toffee and caramel too. Flavors are a bit thin though. 3.75
Feels thin too. Needs more chewiness and viscosity. Carbonation is higher than desired too. All this is to say I want more feel from the base beer, but it isn't at all a bad drinker. No alcohol heat. 3.5
Some great flavors but they don't stick long enough and lack the body to truly savor. Still, enjoyable.

This is a strong amber ale infused with toasted coconut, and aged 8 months in Elijah Craig Bourbon Barrels.
Appearance: cloudy brown, virtually no head, opaque.
Smell: not a strong smell, though vaguely sweet, a little disconnected from what one would usually expect of a beer.
Taste: the initial taste was very good. A full, mouthy, malty (but not overly so) satisfying taste that suggested more good was to come. But, the taste of coconut quickly became dominant, and coconut was a strong after taste, which kind of ruined it for me. The coconut taste overpowered any sense of bourbon or anything else.
Feel: simply, it was a full, slightly viscous in a pleasant way mouthfeel.
Overall: too sweet, too much coconut, which overpowers any other taste that was intended or possible for this beer.
