Bottled on 10/03/18
Opened on 11/28/18

IUBU 87, 8.0% ABV, OG = 16.9 P, 2.2 degree G

L: Gold with thin head, not too dark
N: pine and guava, fruity scent after opening bottle. Fermentation scent after deeper sniff. A little like sewer(yeah, just a hint, though)
Taste: easy to drink, slightly sweet taste with hoppiness. Quite bitter. 87 IBUs surely gave me a great strike, but the beer is not hard to drink even with great level of bitterness.
Finish: smooth fruity finish
Overall: good buy, easy to drink, nice DIPA.

Tangerine, orange, pine resin, white grape and grapefruit pith. A solid bit of malt up front that fades out on the finish. Fairly sweet and bitter, yet sorta clean tasting on the end. Pretty good. West IPA style for sure.

Sharp and fruity big IPA. From the 22 oz bottle purchased at Molly Stone. Color is a light golden yellow with plenty of foam in the tumbler. Spritzy and fairly acidic on the tongue.

Flavors of apricot and pineapple are the first arrivals. Modest malty taste with substantial body. Some sweetness but more of a dry finish. This is really an excellent hoppy brew with more than enough bitterness but mellowed by all the fruity flavors. Brewer lists these as just some (!) of the hops: Mosaic, Simcoe, Idaho 7, Mandarina-- and dry hopped with Huell Melon.

Bottle date is 8/30/16 so this is just 3 weeks old. Pours a dark gold with thick white head. Aroma is wort, bready malt and some slight funky "off flavor" pineapple. Taste is a dry, bitter malty/rye bread flavor with minimal tropical fruits. Finishes very dry. Not impressed. Maybe I got a bad one?

Bottle poured into a Drakes Brewing Co pint glass

A: Pours slightly hazy golden orange amber with a frothy off white head that settles to a nice layer that hangs around and laces well.

S: Fruity, peach, melon, ripe tropical fruit, citrus, a hint of pine, bready malt, and caramel sweetness.

T: Fruity, melon, honeydew, peach, berry, pineapple, over ripe mango, citrus, orange, lemon, pine, a bit spicy, bready malt, and some caramel sweetness.

M: Medium to full body, moderate carbonation, creamy.

O: A little fruity for my taste, but still not bad. Wish I could have gotten my hands on this one sooner, but it's still pretty solid even though it's 2+ months old.

Look is golden haze. Smell is citrus and hoppy. Initial taste bitter but mellows out. Slight mango sweetness background. It's a pretty good dipa overall

This pours a rich golden straw color with a white head 1-1/2 fingers high, and is cloudy. The aroma is resiny pine with some heavy citrus notes. I know citrus isn't usually heavy, but that's what my nose told me. I may need a tuneup.

The taste is loads of resiny pine and some sweet citrus on top. I saw some reviews that referenced this as a West Coast IPA meets a Northeast IPA. I don't get that, but I do get an excellent DIPA.

I'm thinking this is a shot from Drake's at the SO HOT right now, unfiltered NE juice box bomb style IPA, with a West Coast twist. Very good beer. Mango orange & Pineapple. Resinious Caramel & pine backbone. If there ever was a West Coast influenced New England Style IPA, this is it. Love love love that this stays as Resinious as it is juicy. Reminds me of Alpha Acid's DIPAs. Recommended. Very lucky to find my local liquor store selling bombers at $4.99.

A: Glowing orange neon hue. very thick fluffy head bright white bubbles glisten through

S: mango, over ripe pineapple, citrus peel, hops, resin, some guava also. very fruity

T: fruit flavor punch, balanced with some good piney bitterness, more faint tropical fruits. mango pith like crazy. hints of floral and earthy grass also.

F: very good creaminess. good medium to heavy body. coats the palate nicely with a great sweet malty but also bitter aftertaste. Dry clean bite.

O: Im very impressed by this one and living 20 minutes from the brewery I can say I will be looking for this more.

Bottling date of 07/06/16

Appearance - Pours slightly hazy and orange amber in color with a massive, sandstone colored three-finger width head. Good retention, resulting in a fair, consistent layer of suds across the surface. A good amount of lacing clings to the glass in broken sheets, lines and some spotting.

Smell - Candied orange, a bit of pine, caramel, a hint of pineapple and some floral character round out the nose.

Taste - Follows the nose to an extent, as the floral notes are more prominent, though orange is still the predominant flavor, with lesser pineapple zing backing it. Mango hits mid-taste and strengthens in the finish. Aftertaste lingers with a light orange pith bitterness.

Mouthfeel - On the fuller side of medium-bodied with moderate, slightly bitey carbonation.

Overall - A tasty, unique take on the DIPA style. A bit too much mango for my liking, but not so much that it kills it for me. May be a future on-tap purchase, but I think I'll skip on the bombers for now considering the price.

Poured into a snifter/tulip/wine hybrid glass from a 22oz bottle

A - Pours a hazy gold with a light copper hue, three finger fluffy white head that slowly eases off.

S - Very bright hops while verydank, sweet floral, fruity pine, rich pineapple, sexy west coast style yeast, sugary and dried malts/grains, fresh water, fresh cut wood, nice terrior and a very green earth

T - This isn't me copping out because I can write and talk for days, I have never tasted a beer that is as identical to the nose in flavor, whoa.

M - Medium body, medium acidity, medium minus carbonation, great complexity, great balance and a bright sweet hop with a nice malt finish.

D/O - Wow, this IPA is awesome! The taste and nose are so similar it wasn't worth coping and pasting from the "smell". Refreshing, clean, fresh and extremely tasty! I would be remiss to say more than grab this one while it lasts!

Final thoughts - ABV is awesome at 8% and an average price of $8 (the least exciting feature).

22oz bottle into tulip. Bottled 10 days ago on 7/15/16.

A: Pours a very hazy, cloudy, burnt golden with a couple fingers of very dense and oily looking off-white head. I can see a very thick layer of sediment on the bottom of the bottle, so I’m not surprised at how cloudy this beer is. The thick head took forever to slowly collapse into a rocky film that let near-solid sheets of lace down the glass.
S: Extremely juicy tropical-forward nose full of sweet scents of papaya, mango, and guava. I get a touch of kumquat citrus and maybe tangerine as well. Hops oily smells juicy, fresh and akin to fruit nectar.
T/M: Follows the nose albeit more citrus than tropical in flavor. Fruit flavors are on the sweeter side with a clean, almost leafy, bitterness and drying finish. Despite the incredible hop punch, this beer is very easy to drink and not overly heavy or oily in feel. Soft carbonation, sweet flavors overall. The finish has a tingly freshness to it, and the clean leafy bitterness lingers long after the swallow.
O: Another full-flavored yet extremely drinkable dipa from Drake’s. This has an incredibly juicy flavor for being so dry. I’d definitely drink this again.

This pours a light glowing tan amber. There's a fruity blast in the aroma, and I half expect to see the kool ade man jump out as I sip it. Flavor squeezes more of the same juice out with a sweetish finish. There's something slightly off here, however, and I can't quite place it but it sticks out and distracts from an otherwise solid brew.
