Had this one at O'Brien's today on nitro-tap, served in a pint glass. Ultra dark brown, bordering black, with the thickest creamy, cocoa-coffee colored head I have ever seen. The head grew to 1/2 inch and stood till the entire pint was empty, and tons of creamy lace left everywhere. Nitrogen does amazing things to stout...creeeamy!
The smell is nothing but dark roasty, black patent, bitter-coffee malt. Nothing sweet in the aroma, just black coffee, burnt and roasted.
As for the flavor...you guessed it, black, roasted (nearly burnt) bitter coffee of a stout, right down to the BITTER, dry finish. Pretty damn tasty!
Heavy body with a creamy yet puckering mouthfeel, if you like bitter, this one aims to please, The alcohol was buried by the bitterness but my guess is around 6% +.
If you like your stout dry and bitter, this is for you...light beer drinkers, don't even think about it, cheers!
