Rye Barrel Aged Drakonic

Pours black which remains black even when held against a flashlight. Head is a half finger of khaki-colored loose bubbles. Aroma is biting from afar, bringing along heavy roasty and toasty malts, chocolate, and light toffee. Boldness is bolstered by a cut of rye spice and barrel. Flavor profile is roasty and toasty malts, chocolate, and faint toffee. Rye spice adds to it, but it's faint. It lacks some of the boldness of the initial nose, although part of that resonance and depth is developed as the beer warms. Mouth feel is medium in thickness, which feels a bit thin for the style. Texture borders on creamy, but falls just short, landing more smooth and still. Overall, quality stout notes, but it lacks the presence and oomph of an imperial stout, especially aged on rye.
