Had this at the Strange Brew Festival held on May 18, 2019. Interesting backstory for this keg, apparently it was "lost" at the 2015 inaugural festival, but then reappeared in time for this one. One of the aspects I found most noteworthy was there wasn't really a feel of any aging that happened to it (as best I can tell, nobody got to try it 4 years ago when it was fresh).
Pours a mostly dark brown and black color, 1/3" beige/tan head. Aroma was strong, I got more of a whiskey feel in the nose (more to come later) than bourbon in the nose. Peppers also absent in the aroma (this is a barrel aged porter with chipotle and cacao nibs).
Taste, wow, now I'm really getting a sweeter whiskey vibe than I am a charred bourbon barrel feel. The cacao nibs were nice, the peppers were pretty mild, only noticeable on the back end. Really what stood out on this beer was how it seemed like whiskey not bourbon aged. Perhaps it was just a buttload of cacao nibs that really sweetened it up.
