On tap @ Beachwood BBQ on 12/23/10 (from notes):
Pours a clear orange color with a good foamy white head which fades slowly. Smell is fruity, brett and spicy mint. Taste is moderately sour/tart, herbal, and slightly sweet. The mouthfeel is full and funky. Overall, the surprising favorite (yeah right) for me today.

On-tap at Beachwood BBQ,
A: Pours a deep yellow-orange with a firm white head, good lace.
S: Pungent mix of the wine barrel and horse blanket, Brett prevalent.
T: Has a clear Grenache component from the barrel - cherries, cranberries, bit of tannic undertone, juicy. Sweet pils style malt with a bit more sugar, the Brett funk and delicious lactic acid come in and mix with the previous componenets to make this beer truly world class.
M: Very well-structured, medium-high acidity, medium-bodied.
D: Best beer I had of the night at Beachwood, fantastic flavour. I'd love to have this beer again if given the chance. A top 3 beer of the year.

Bistro Barrel Aged Fest 09. Amesome beer, one of the best of the fest.
Murky orangish-amber in color with a small off-white head.
Intense solventy aroma that is pretty good despite a strong acetone/nail polish character. Yeasty and spicy with floral hops.
Flavor is awesome - intense tartness, red wine, berries, sweet malt, oak, and spices. Very unique and tasty.
Acidic and very lively on the palate with medium body.
High drinkability for a sour ale. Very good beer overall, one of the best of the fest flavor-wise, although it didn't fare quite as well in other characteristics. Good baseball player too.

10 ounce glass at the Bistro in Hayward for four dollars on 1/23/09, reviewed from notes, awesome to see a beer named after somebody famous from my hometown of El Segundo, actually played for the same High School he and his brothers did, and he is a nice guy to boot, this is an abbey-style tripel aged in Grenache French Oak barrels with brettanomyces added, color is a mix between amber and a darker orange, thin 1/2 inch bubbly white head that did not last long, did leave a tiny bit of lacing though, aroma was full of brett, also red wine, spices, wood, soft malts, light hops, brown sugar, and mild tart, taste was sugary with an ester filled finish, tart at first, then fades into Belgian yeast and wine-like flavors, very unique and warmed up nicely, tart, sweet, and fruity mouthfeel, medium bodied, nice level of carbonation, taste lingers, could have drank more but there was so many other good beers on draft, light and inviting, cannot taste much alcohol at all, glad to see the Kansas City Royals hall of famer getting some love in the beer world, would like to have again, recommended
