On tap @ Beachwood BBQ on 12/23/10 (from notes):
Pours a dark burgundy with just a trace of fizzy head. Smells of stone fruit and oak wood. Taste is slightly sour combined with a tannic bite and some tart cherries in the mix. Mouthfeel is crisp, complex, and intricate. Overall, at first questioned whether I received the drink I asked for since it didn't "look" like what I was expecting - a bretted amber. The aging in Merlot barrels imparted the surprising deep color. Wish it was more funky and wild, but still one of the highlights.

On-tap at Beachwood BBQ,
A: Pours mahogany with a soft white head, limited lace. Average head retention. Nice colour.
S: Clear Merlot barrel, grape, red currants, notes of leather.
T: Oud Bruin type malt flavour and acidity. Complex, full-flavour, some leather and chocolate. Bit hard to put it all together, but it's delicious.
M: Medium-bodied, very good Flanders style acidic character, tart and fruity, brisk.
D: Wild session beer in a way, you could drink a lot of this, never gets old.

Sampled 12/23/2010 at Beachwood BBQ for the Drakes/Triple Rock event. Damn you Gabe for making this on one of the busiest travelling days of the year.
Pours red, clear, white head, but not much lace or retention.
Aroma is vinegary (big surprise), sweet, funky, and a little winey.
Flavor is surprisingly good for a Drake's sour. Sweet wine, wood, a little bit of vinegar (controlled), fruit, funk, chocolatey oxidation, and some wood. "Complex" is usually an excuse for bad beer but this one is both complex and somewhat good.
Body is on the lighter side of medium but could be better if it was a bit lighter. Drinkability is present.

"Brettamber
Style: Sour Amber Ale, 6.8%
2 Row and Crystal 45 malt with East Kent Golding hops. Aged in a Merlot barrel for four years with Brettanomyces."
