This was my favorite beer at Drake's and also my favorite beer enjoyed in Norcal in January.
Dark brown with lighter brown trim. Minimal khaki head. Smells of rich molasses, candied fruits, honey, christmas smells. Thick perfectly balanced and syrupy taste of brandy, malty candy caramel and finally robust oakness keeping closer to a traditional barleywine. Mouthfeel is smooth and sweet with lower, almost flat carbonation, but very appropriate and not detracting.
Not the best representation of a barleywine, but thoroughly awesome. Malt madness.

On-tap at Blue Palms for Drakes/Triple Rock Tap Takeover
A: The beer pours amber in color, perhaps leaning toward copper, with a small white head.
S: Big brandy aroma with plenty of vanilla and oak. Sweet caramel and toffee malts with some bready notes in there as well. Hints of maple syrup give additional sweetness to the beer.
T: Bready malts along with toffee, caramel, and hints of molasses. Some brandy and vanilla are there along with a little bit of booze. However, the flavor is a touch "flat".
M: Medium in body with a low to medium carbonation.
O: The nose was fantastic, but the flavor was a little bit of a let down.
