On-tap at Blue Palms
A: The beer pours essentially black with a fairly small khaki head.
S: There is some definite sourness to the nose. It's decently funky with quite a heavy barrel character. Lots of wood and charred oak and tannins. There's the patented vinegar aroma as well as some roast, cherries, and a strong earthy quality.
T: Certainly some sourness here. A fair amount of vinegar which clashes a bit with the booze and bourbon. Heavy on the oak with a touch of cherries and licorice. For a Drake's barrel aged beer, surprisingly unoffensive.
M: Medium bodied, but a little light for an imperial stout. Medium on the carbonation.
O: I'm amazed at the decentness of this beer. It wasn't all that good, but unlike other wild beers from Drake's, I didn't need to be taken to the hospital after drinking it.
