On tap at Drake's Barrel House in San Leandro. The Enigma is a Wheatwine / Scotch ale, aged in bourbon and brandy barrels.
A: Mahogany brown, with small head.
S: Lots of oak, and some grape notes; also molasses, perhaps.
T: A bit of hot alcohol and oak, followed by caramel and toffee, as well as prunes. Bitter-ish start but clean finish
M: Heavy body, medium carbonation. Definitely a slow sipper - even more so than most of Drake's heavy barrel-aged beers.
O: It's not awful, but I prefer their other barrel-aged strong beers.
