Had this the day after the 1 year anniversary at the Drake's Barrel House. A soured Belgian single aged in cabernet barrels, 7% ABV.
Pours a light gold with lively 2 finger head that doesn't last too long but leaves nice oily lacing.
Aroma is bready biscuit malt, fruity/spicy esters, Candi sugar and a slight tart edge.
Taste is tart up front but not at all sour, mixed with whine grapes and some stone fruit. Caramel & biscuit malt flavors pair well with Candi sugar and oaky barrel character. Finishes with a unique mix of sweet & tart, semi-dry with some light spicy/herbal hops.
Mouthfeel is very nice, slightly slick with firm body but carbonation and tartness keep it from getting cloying. Barrel character adds a creamy savory finish that lingers for just long enough.
Another interesting barrel experiment from Drake's, their wine barrel aged beers are my favorite thus far. This one is like a treat but the tart edge keeps it from being overly decadent. Yummy stuff.

Pours a murky orange color with a small off-white head. Really strange nose to this. Sort of spicy with some banana, white vinegar, mild oak, and grapes. Tastes of vinegar, wine, and oak for the most part. Some fruit notes to it, light butter in the background, and maybe a bit of citrus. Kind of watery on the palate, too.

Enjoyed at RBSG. Thanks!
Appears cloudy dark orange with a bubbly white head. The aroma is biscuity malt with a restrained lactic sourness. Lots of apple with some pear. Light oak and a touch of acetone. The flavor is apple and pear with oak and a bit of nail polish. Biscuity malt. Upper low lactic sourness and a low acetic acidity. Lower medium body with upper low carbonation. Dry and sticky mouthfeel.
