Tap to Taster
@Drakes Brewing, San Leandro, CA
App- Darker than Cuvee with more of the brown ale coloring taking over. This was a bit darker in the center but still had the red edges, Left a stronger lace and cling and was more of a thicker pour.
Smell- This had a good aroma. Needed more to warm and breath with the base brown malts taking over and then a bit of the rich sweetness from the brandy. Had a touch more barrel notes to it with some strong oak and vanilla.
Taste- This was quite unique and more of a strong ale than Cuvee. Retained a touch of equal parts from each beer and then the blend gave it some pop. The malts are a touch thick and the barrel character adds coconut and vanilla and candy like sugary notes.
Mouth- A solid medium body and a solid medium carbonation. A bit better than Cuvee but not jumping to 4.5
Drink- A very nice beer and blended well. Probably the 2nd place of the 3 barrel aged beers I had at Drakes.

We love reviews (150 characters or more)! Check out: How to Review a Beer. You don't need to get fancy. Drop some thoughts on the beer's attributes (look, smell, taste, feel) plus your overall impression. Something that backs up your rating and helps others. Thanks!
