1585th Review on BA
Bottle to Drakes Nonic
22oz
Purchased at Drake's San Leandro
App- A fairly darker and richer copper color with a small capped maybe 1" head with a bit of cling. Wasnt until the beer was gone that you saw some sticky cling on the bottom of the glass. A bit of a wood stain like consistency in the center.
Smell- A fairly standard pale ale. The addition of the goldings make it more thick on the nose and comes to a meshing of piney, wheat, malty and a bit grainy earthy.
Taste- Its an okay pale ale. Im pretty sure I've been ruined by Zombie and Hoppy Birthday. Great pale ales but yet blending of those hops in there just amazing. So....now standard pale ales with that malty bite and only a smattering dont cut it. This is very much the same. Similar to SNPA with a good malt backbone with a bit of thick bitter and some herbal notes to it.
Mouth- A bit thicker than I was expecting and I was actually a fan of how this felt. A bit bigger, a bit amped up but had a nice delicate carbonation to match what was in the glass. A good residual bitter/earthy flavor.
Drink- Well I wasnt too impressed with this. It had its moments from looking nice and the feel but the overall taste of the beer didnt do it for me. Too harsh for my style appreciation. A bit bitter and off due to the goldings.
