On tap at the Beermongers in Portland, OR; aged in port and zinfandel barrels;
Poured into a chalice; 12oz serving
Pours a deep mahogany with some khaki-colored bubbles and a ring; big, inviting vinous nose, complimented by roast; drops off a bit after, but profile follows nose; a bit watery in the mouthfeel department; very drinkable for the style; a decent variant overall, but I prefer the original

Excellent stout with deep notes of Zinfandel from the barrel. The wine compliments Drakonic perfectly. It has a pitch black body with a dark purple head, that dissipates fairly quickly. As the beer warms, the wine taste is more present and it is a welcome presence.

Very tasty. Dry, with less vanilla than the bourbon draconic. Obviously, super dark color. Taste is lightly sour, almost vineous.

On tap at Whole Foods in Venice, CA.
Pours an opaque black with a foamy dark khaki head that settles to a small cap on top of the beer. Foamy swaths of lace form around the glass on the drink down. Smell is of dark roasted malt, cocoa, dark fruit, red wine, and wood aromas. Taste is much the same with slightly sour cocoa, red wine, and wood flavors on the finish. There is a mild amount of acidity on the palate with each sip. This beer has a lower level of carbonation with a slightly crisp mouthfeel. Overall, this is a pretty good beer with the red wine barrel aging adding sour fruit aspects to the base beer.
Serving type: on tap.
