Exceptionally satisfying and full bodied for it's stature. Vibrant in citrus, tropical fruits and berry flavours from the Citra, Mosaic and Simcoe hops, this beer delivers the same big hop hit you may have come to expect from our more muscular Pale Ales.

The clue is in the blurb on the back of the bottle: "a full-bodied beer for its stature". This is a Small Beer, not an AIPA, with an ABV of only 2.5%. It looks good: clear, golden, with a 1 finger head and some lacing. It smells fantastic: a big, citrus wallop from its American hops. But the low alcohol results in a thin, watery mouthfeel and a flavour that falls far short of its aroma. Plus it has a sharp, metallic quality to it. To be honest, if I was the designated driver I'd prefer a lime & soda.

Clear amber with a fair-sized white head of tight foam. Wonderfully fresh and zingy hop aroma of passion fruit, pineapple, lavender, Meyer lemon, and calamansi. A real Five Alive of a beer.
It smells fantastic, but the flavor lets it down. Instead of the crisp, tropical hops I was expecting, it tastes more of wet wood and watered-down malt, peach, blackcurrant, and a weird flash of melted rubber. The balance is spot on and there's some nice spice to it, so if I were to judge this as an ordinary bitter it would be pretty good. But its label boasts the 'big hop hit' of a 'muscular' pale ale. So yeah. Not really. Not bad, but does not meet expectations. Possible food pairings: pizza, lemon chicken, monkfish liver, pheasant.
